'Plan and Elevation' - Vincent Stokes and Tony Martin
The White Horse Gallery is delighted to announce its new collaborative exhibition, Plan and Elevation, by local artist Vincent Stokes and Tony Martin.
Charles Mingus, jazz musician and composer, noted 'making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple - that's creativity'. Plan and Elevation is an exhibition at home with such a maxim. Vincent Stokes and Tony Martin create and produce work that engages with structure, line, and the playfulness of composition. Both artists also seek to offer contemplative spaces in works that go beyond the mechanics of picture making.
Having studied Fine Art at De Montfort University, Vincent Stokes became Head of Art at Marlborough College, Wiltshire. Retiring from teaching has permitted Vincent greater freedoms to work in his studio, whilst also continuing to exhibit and sell privately.
Tony Martin also studied Fine Art in Leicester and St. Albans, later gaining an MA in Theology and the Visual Arts from the University of Wales, Bangor. He has exhibited regularly for more than three decades as a painter, printmaker and draughtsman. He is also a founder member of Fingerprint Printmakers.
Plan and Elevation will be showing at The White Horse Gallery between Saturday 5th August - Monday 28th August 2023.
We look forward to seeing you there!
