Isabella Tree, winner of the 2019 Richard Jefferies Society/White Horse Bookshop Literary Prize for Nature Writing, will be talking about her book, ‘Wilding’ at St Mary's Church, Marlborough on Thursday 25 July at 6.30pm.

In 2000 Isabella and her husband Charlie Burrell accepted that intensive farming on their land in West Sussex was becoming ever less viable. They made the bold decision to let the estate revert back to nature.

With minimal intervention, the land has now become home to rare and endangered species as the estate has been ‘re-wilded’, reversing the decline in species which has been the pattern in the UK for the past century. Charting the progress of these alterations, 'Wilding' has been hailed as one of the most important books on the topic in recent times.

At the end of her talk, Isabella will receive the Richard Jefferies Society/White Horse Bookshop Literary Prize for Nature Writing.
